Rose Gold with Tiger tooth
Circa 1830- 1890
Necklace has 19'' chain
Pendant measures 1.25'' across
An odd little Raj Victorian fob pendant necklace with a real tiger tooth. A very old piece, it was probably converted to a necklace a bit later in it's life. This little hunting trophy most likely hung from a watch fob or pin originally.
The pin setting and cap on the tooth are a nice pale, rose gold. It has a beautiful shine and the metal is very light weight, but expertly sets the tooth securely. The cable chain also has some rose tone, but has a little more of a yellow gold cast indicating that these were matched up later on.
This piece is so well made even though sometimes these natural material Victorian pieces seem like they would be too delicate to wear. This one seems sturdy enough to stand up to the modern world.
C Clasp closure.
Has a stamp, but illegible due to wear from age.
